My new toy

I gave myself a nice Christmas present - a new treadmill. It is a Proform 397, nice, moderately priced, and has all the bells and whistles I need. Now, what will be my excuse for not getting my walking in?! None - as of tomorrow I will have no excuse. I can no longer say - it's too dark, too cold, too hot, no sidewalks and is therefore not safe.
I say as of tomorrow, because tonight I am assembling it. And earlier today I unloaded the huge box from a rented pick-up, and then had to figure out how to get it into the house - it was heavier than I had expected. So, I unpacked all the smaller pieces, closed the box , and used a hand truck to roll it into my house and down the hall and into my newly designated exercise room/library.
Just getting it in the house was a workout in itself. Whew! But, where there's a will there's a way. And I definitely had the will. I can't wait to see how many steps I will be taking.
So here's my workout schedule for now
- walking every day (indoor and/or out) in increasing distances as I progress
- aerobic workout dvd's 3 times per week 45-60 minutes
- strength training 4 days per week in increasing resistances

    wow I love how you did all that hard work by yourself you are reslient and inspirational. I hope you really enjoy your new treadmill that you put together yourself not many people can say that. I love your other work out schedule . Do you know my daughter told me their are free workouts on you tube . you are doing excellent. hugs

    GOOD FOR YOU!!!! That is so wonderful; that is inspirational to take care of yourself like that!

    One thing that I have found really great, is "Virtual Active" runs and hikes...you can do a treadmill (or other similar activities) and feel like you are running in all sorts of locations...the Swiss Alps, Germany, etc...you can google Virtual Active and find it. The downloads are MUCH cheaper than the DVDs. Just a thought since you have such a wonderful self-care kind of Christmas gift.

    Hint: Get some really good music for your workouts. I do an hour every day on the treadmill. It can become tedious without additional motivation.
    I love the fast-pumping music.
