Diabetic Nutrition Plan

I am trying to get used to the Diabetic Nutrition Plan. Since my fasting glucose was a bit high and my A1C came back as a 6.3 this month, the doc says I am borderline diabetic, or pre-diabetic. I have a strong family history of diabetes. I know my chronic pain and difficulty moving and exercising definitely contribute to this. I am trying to be more conscious and take steps to avoid full blown diabetes.

I figured out how to get my nutrition tracker to list the diabetic goals and see that it's set up as frequent small meals and snacks. I have been tracking about 1 week so far, just being conscious and not making too many changes yet.

Earlier in the week I noticed I was barely eating all day, then I would eat dinner and totally rack up the points. I also had major night-time munchies. Wondering if that's hormonal? Or is it just because I am not really eating all day and then pow! Hunger kicks in.

Yesterday I tried the grazing method. I have to watch my carbs. I went over for the day. I need to eat more protein to balance them out, I was under for the day. I did well with limiting fat and cholesterol, and I was within my fiber goal range. I need to watch sodium.

So there we have week one and analysis on what to watch. Overall, if I get rid of the night time munchies, which grazing all day seemed to curb, I think I can do ok. It's a start!
