Ring Toss or Reason 74

Saturday, January 19, 2013

How's this for inspired post? It's 2:30am Saturday morning and I just climbed out of the shower.

Reason 74 for shedding the weight, getting healthier, etc is RING TOSS.

Pardon me if this is TMI, but a reason like this is a motivating factor for me. Why is it so hard to bend over and get my underwear on? Seriously. The heavier I am, the less agile and flexible I am and the harder it is to get those darn things on without sitting down. Even then it is not that easy, but standing up, it resembles a three ring circus.

I am so tired of trying different tactics, rolling them up, tossing them on the floor to step through. It is embarrassing, even though I AM THE ONLY ONE THERE. How weird is that? I am embarrassed in front of myself. Go ahead. Wrap your head around that one. And while you are it, drop by for some ring toss. : )

Oh, I was there. At my highest way it was difficult to put pants on and tie my shoes. I was also unsteady on my feet, which I hated with a passion. I wanted to hike, but I was so scared I'd fall and hurt myself. I managed to start hiking with a walking stick for balance. I also found a yoga-based core stretch video at my local library:

I used that video at least 3 times a week. That video is a very light stretch yoga that is good for anyone who has balance issues and helps with flexibility and strengthening your core.

The combination of those two things really made a difference in my balance and confidence. It also allowed me to start doing other stretches that made it a little less difficult to tie my shoes or put clothes on.

You can do this. You can win at ring toss :) And then you can move on to more entertaining games.

I have to lean against the door frame or the vanity counter or I will topple over even putting on jeans.

I sit to do mine....almost have to unless I want to bend in ways I'm not meant to!

I am embarrassed of myself, too, so I understand.

Yessss, that is one of life's little details, and just one of the many perks of being a healthy size. Just THINK of the things that would be easier with less stuff in the way:)
    Be good to yourself!

Yep. Been there, done that. Seems like I carry way too much fat in my belly. It is darn hard to get past it.

Losing some weight has been very beneficial that way! emoticon

It's true. Now that I've lost weight, I can stand on one leg and get my other leg through my pants. I can even stand up and put socks on after my yoga class.

Of course, the yoga class helps with balance and flexibility, too.

I can feel you, really. I used to have to sit down and put my undies on. Now I can stand and put them on one leg at at time! It's my daily reminder of how far I have come! emoticon You will get there!!

Never thought of it that way but it's true. At least a 2 rings circus. You are right though... pretty soon we will put our undies on like a lady :) standing and one leg at a time.

    You're so hilarious!

(I like being fat just fine, but I admit that one benefit of getting thinner and more flexible is that I can reach to put on my panties and tie my shoes, both of which were harder when I was fatter and less fit.)
