Faith by Jennifer Haigh (Literary Fiction)

Set in 2002 in the Boston archdiocese where trusted priests have been accused of child molestation this book describes the fall out that occurs within a devout Catholic family when a priest within their family is accused of this crime. Centers on the relationships of three siblings and their faith (both their religious faith and their faith in each other). Very well written. * * * *

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (Literary Fiction)

Two illusionists, chosen at a young age to be bound to one another in a contest that will span their lives until one wins. They have been given no rules, other than that they must perform in some way. They have no idea how one wins, or what one must do to win. Their sponsors in the contest create the circus as the arena for their players. One will travel with it, the other will not. Over time, their lives become intricately enmeshed in a dance of love, joy, deceit, heartbreak, and magic. This book was slow in the beginning but I ended up really liking it. * * * *
