Canadian Winters

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Well, tonight I re-prioritized my evening. I was planning on going back to the gym, but it then I checked the weather forecast before leaving work, and everything changed. Tonight's low of 1 celsius (34F), feeling like -5 (23F), is going to be higher than tomorrow's daytime high of -5(23F), feeling like -9 (16F) with the wind. Which is no big deal since it's been feeling cold like that since November, but I knew it was just going to get colder from here.

And then I saw what it was going to be like on Sunday when I work; supposed to be -2 (28F), but it will feel like -15 (3F) with the wind. That is really cold, and I'm used to, and I love it here, but that is really cold. So I decided that this is the year I am going to buy a winter hat. I've been able to brave 6 winters in Toronto with just a hood, or doubling up my sweater hood and jacket hood...but this year seems like it's going to get real cold.

I'm actually really stoked to have a frigid winter, because it's been so mild for so long, and I love feeling each season...especially the winter season. Most people can't stand it, but I love it because it means you're all bundled and cozy at home, you make hearty meals, and there's snow. This year I would love some more snow! All our snow washed away because it got to 15 celsius (50F) over the weekend, and there was some rain. was like spring weather in the middle of winter.

Anyway, the point of this post was to state that I didn't go to the gym tonight because I had to get ready for the real winter weather. I had to buy a winter hat to make commuting easier in the upcoming months (because winter doesn't end until the last week of March), and so I don't catch a cold and miss work. BUT I did get in some exercise...I walked for 30 minutes and burned 79 calories!

Anyway, my new hat is so cute. It's an ear flap hat with fuzzy lining on the inside, and a pom-pom on top. It's also from Roots, and I love that company...although I wish their stuff was made in Canada, and not in China so much. Anyways, this is what it looks like:

Awesome. I can't wait to wear it tomorrow!

    Congrats on your purchase.
I'm not a big hat wearer, something about them makes me feel claustrophobic!
