I used to work at Bob Evans before I moved to a state where there is no Bob Evans and they added smoothies to the menu. Tasty good stuff. Then I got the idea to start making smoothies at home. Even tastier stuff. Before we moved I noticed that there was frozen fruit. After we moved I started using frozen fruit as well as fresh fruit and didn't need to use ice again. Then my sister told me she added spinach to her smoothies. On the next shopping trip I got spinach. I also got broccoli to eat. I got the idea to add spinach and broccoli to the smoothies. Believe it or not it's pretty tasty and only get a hint of broccoli. I use every piece of fruit we have in the apartment and whatever else I decided to buy. I bought avocados last month and added it to the smoothies. My son likes smoothies and the only vegetable he willingly eats is carrots. He watches me put in all of the vegetables as well as the fruit and still says the smoothies tastes yummy. Score one for this mean momma! I decided that the more vitamins that I can pack into one little smoothie and get my son to drink it then I am going for it. I like my fruits and veggies any ways and I don't mind the taste. I always make way to much smoothie and at the beginning I would just stick it in the fridge but never finish and end up throwing it away. Then I got the idea of just putting some in cups and the rest in a storage bag and stick it in the freezer and add to it the next time. I have enough smoothie left over for 4 more smoothies. Tasty goodness.

They are easy to make. I put my fresh fruits and veggies in the blender and blend then I add the frozen fruit and blend. The frozen fruit makes it thick like the ice does. Then I blend in the yogurt. You can pick any fruit and yogurt you want to. I always use grapes and 1 or 2 cups of mandarin oranges. My frozen fruit is blueberries, red raspberries and blackberries. If I have bananas I add one. I put in a nectarine, peach halves, and pineapples to the mix today. I sometimes put in apple sauce in and watermelon if I have it. I would rather spend $30 or more on fruits and veggies and make the smoothie at home then go out and constantly buy a smoothie from somewhere else. I know what is in my smoothies and not what's in a restaurant.
