Starting Week 1

Well, I got up this morning and weighed in 246.5 lbs. Excited to start this journey today with the support I have been missing in the past. I am prepared for battle. I brought my lunch and healthy snacks with me. The test today will be a birthday party for a co-worker. There will be food out everywhere. I read a SparkPeople article yesterday on how to say "no" to food pushers. So my answer will be "No thank you".

Hee hee. I did it. When all the goodies were brought out, I ate my banana with the rest of the group. No one questioned why I wasn't eating the other stuff. Next week more birthday so I am ready.

    This is one of the keys-taking it one day or one event or one meal at a time. Just focus on the one thing, get thru that, move on. Pre-planning is another key that many learn way later in their journey. Think ahead...what will I eat, how will I resist temptation...etc. Not waiting until yo are in the middle of a party because it is too, too easy to just shrug and think , "Oh, well...I'll worry about calories tomorrow." You are ahead of the game already! Awesome!

    So excited for you for the start of your journey! As TheSuby mentioned - use your nutrition and fitness counters - they really help! Also - read aritcles, join teams, listen to spark people radio. I really find the more spark points I get - the better I do. That's because I'm focused on healthy living, have a community supporting me, have experts on exercise, nutrition and healthy lifestyle on my side!

    Patty, I was sceptical; I mainly tried the site because I got a new smartphone and liked the app, lol!
    I already lost 10 pounds in 2 months, without even following the program to strictly, just logging my food and exercising several times a week. I highly recommend the nutrition and fitness trackers.
