A Very Busy Saturday

Yesterday was busy!

We drove to Modesto Airport for the monthly breakfast. Saw Brett and Steve. Went out to look at planes after eating. It was COLD! Even with the sun shining, the wind was blowing cold air.

Finally got Dan to leave the airport and we ended up driving around doing errands. Ended up at Betsy’s for a couple hours-nice visit.

Then we went over to Dan & Sherry’s where we met extended family for a visit and a ‘burrito bar.’ I was able to follow the WW program but didn’t have internet access which made it hard to know how many points I was using. I enjoyed visiting with Dan and some of the kids. I especially enjoyed playing with the little ones-Evie & Talon. Got to see Melissa’s newest-Corbin. Who was there? Dan & Sherry, Daniel & Abby (who is pregnant), Josh, Ann, Mandy, Evie, Melissa, Talon, Corbin, Sam, Jess, Jenn, Dan and me.

Had to leave that party to meet Brett. Then we three drove to Newman for dinner and a concert. The dinner was at a Mexican restaurant. I find that avoiding chips is HARD. I had too many. Its not really the chips so much as a way to get the salsa. hmmmm.

The concert was Tom Rigney and Flambeau at the Westside Theatre. We had seen them last year at the same venue with Brett. We enjoyed it then and we enjoyed it again.

Didn’t get home (actually Brett & Gia’s place) until midnight and then couldn’t sleep from too much caffeine. Felt like I’d been run over by a truck when I awoke. Now that I’m up and moving, things are better.

Got to see Gia for a bit this morning but she had other things to do so left. Dan and Miley (Brett & Gia’s dog) are having a great time playing together.

As we almost got to the turn to our street, the road was blocked. Someone had hit a power pole and it was just hanging in the road. So we had to drive back to town and take the long way to our house. Twenty extra miles – aack. Of course, there was no power at the house. It was still mid-afternoon so we had light to get a fire going, unpack and then look at each other, wondering what to do. Fortunately the power was back on before nightfall.

Weighed in at WW – lost another two pounds YAHOO!! That is motivation to keep on the program. Total lost since I signed up four Mondays ago: just over five lbs (BIG SMILE).

Went into town for a mtn bike meeting. OK really just to meet Kevin as we’ve emailed each other but not actually met. Kevin & Dwight met for their purpose while I wandered around town. Went into the second hand store and found a pair of jean – a size smaller! – that fit and they were on sale: $2. What a deal, what a deal.

Then I met up with the others and actually met Kevin. They were pretty much done with their meeting so the talk just turned to biking – road, mountain, tours, events, day rides, etc. Turns out I had met Kevin’s wife over a year ago at The Grill where she was working. She said then they she and her husband were cyclists but we never connected after that. Now they have a 3 month old girl so that limits their cycling time. But I think I convinced Kevin he should schedule a ride for our group.
