Why I did not eat chocolate (tonight)

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Easy question.

I couldn't get off the couch. Sure, I can blame it on sagging couch cushions, a lack of strength in my legs, socks sliding on the worn carpet, or I could face facts.

I am fat.

I want think I want the taste of something sweet in my mouth, but the cold hard truth is that if I eat the chocolate, getting off the couch is only going to be that much harder next time.

Grrrr. I did not eat the chocolate, tonight.

I am back at square one or so it seems. BUt this is a good starting point and recognizing that I can CHOOSE something different and not have the chocolate is a physical step in the right direction.

So that is what I am doing. Taking baby steps in the right direction. UP and away we go.

You are not at square one my friend.
You have lost more than 20% of your goal weight.
Our minds can take us to the worst place immediately.
I know mine does, especially with the weight I have gained back recently.
But truth is, We are both better off than we were at our highest points.
    You got this Mar,

it is good to recognize what you have to do - but then making a plan to succeed is the most important component -
allow yourself to indulge in some chocolate - preferably dark chocolate which has been proven to be beneficial.
when you plan your day with your meals and snacks clearly spelled out - there should be something in there you can look forward to enjoying.
if you feel a 'taste' will make you crave and send you binging - first make sure you have only a little available so you cannot overdose - but be sure to have the real thing - we all know from experience that substitutes DON'T WORK and make things much worse.
perhaps you can enlist a buddy and have moral support - someone to call and speak with -
look to other things for fulfillment - reading, blogging, phone a friend, organizing things in the house etc.
keep in touch - i know you will be ok

Fantastic! emoticon It's about taking each day as it comes. Today, you resisted the chocolate. Hig five to you for that. All you have to do it repeat that kind of mentality and you'll have this figured out. emoticon

you are doing it. no different than any one of us. one baby step at a time. one decision at a time. one foot in front of the other. the results happen when we stop waiting for them and start the action part. those baby steps we take. I know you can do this!

I love baby steps. Looking at the final goal is often daunting, but much smaller goals feel more attainable.

It doesn't matter why you didn't eat the chocolate. All that matters is that you didn't. Huge kudos to you. Take your next baby step. And your next. You got this.

Call that a victory, cuz it is. Baby steps, a thousand times baby steps:) It's only frustrating when they go backward:)

This is one of the hardest battles there is, and the only thing I know is that we cannot quit. So your baby steps are good ones. One day at a time, make a few good choices ...
    Take care
