Week 3 - Diamond Head

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Well this week I had a pretty decent week. Was going real strong but had nights out on Wednesday and Saturday where I drank a few extra calories. I know I live in an awesome place and it offers a ton of opportunities for healthy living but one of the downsides is it definitely has that party/vacation atmosphere ALL THE TIME. The apartment complex where we live is full of non natives. People who are here for school or work or just recently moved to the island. None of us have family or know a lot of other people here so we tend to hang out and do a lot of stuff together. Two of the things we do quite frequently is eat and go out. So trying to keep calories in line is hard. But lately we have been countering that with a lot of physical activity.

Take This weekend. We were awaken at 8am to join the neighbors for a breakfast buffet oceanside at Duke's. We went but dressed appropriately and went straight to gym after. Also it is a 1.2 mile walk to Duke's and then another 1.2 miles to the gym. We had a really good workout. Came home showered and went back out and walked to the mall and spent 2.5 hours there shopping. I have started trying to watch my carb intake so I have been usually eating carbs for breakfast but try to avoid them for lunch and dinner. But on Saturday I did pretty good only carbs at breakfast were fruit and baked red potatoes and veggies. Had an egg white omelette with green peppers, onions, spinach ham and cheese. 3 slices of bacon the potatoes and fruit so not bad for a buffet. Lunch was prime rib, roast pork and veggies and salad at the food court. dinner was grilled chicken, turkey sausage, beef ribs and veggies I grilled the night before. Who said you can't eat and lose weight :)

Anyways on Sunday we hiked diamond Head for the first time. it was awesome it is a mile and a half hike and very scenic. It was a pretty good workout as we tried to keep a good pace going up. Below are some pics. It was my first time hiking. It was challenging in parts. Especially one of the last staircases they have there. Hopefully the first of many future hikes :)

Anyway here are the numbers for this week. not great but I know on the weekend I probably was over on calories. I don't track on the weekend. I also have to keep the nights out down to have bigger weeks.

Starting weight 380 lbs
week 2 weight 278.0 lbs
week 3 weight 276.6
Difference -1.4 lbs
Total weight lost 103.4 lbs
lbs to goal 26.6

Well sometime we do not do well as we would like to but we are human and destined to fail at times. I am glad to hear that you recovered and are right back on track. That hiking sounds like it was fun and beautiful and it seems that you have a good team with you. Who are they? Keep up the good work I know you can do it. emoticon

How wonderful. Are you there on a temporary assignment or have you moved permanently! What a wonderful place to live. How are you coping with the higher grocery prices? Congratulations on your renewed push to continue losing. I need to take inspiration from you. I have been plateauing for several months now and need to get moving. Best wishes to you. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

You are going in the right direction ...down... so you must be doing something good. I think the vacation feeling might wear off soon and you will be less likely to eat out as much and that in its self will probably contribute to bigger losses...if you didn't cook it yourself its so hard to know what's in there! Good job!

Congrats on your weight loss! Just take it one day at a time and try to not be too hard on yourself. This is a lifestyle change and we need to make it work into our daily lives and not go through this as a "diet".

My husband has been a huge inspiration to me. He started at 500 lbs and has lost 130 lbs so far. If he can do it, YOU can do it!

It is always hard to get around vacation mode when those around you aren't, but you'll find your niche! I know you will! You've worked way too hard and you see your goal! That's so important, you SEE IT! You are within reach of it! I have every confidence that you'll get there! Enjoy your life, you've earned so much and you've fought for it... all those excursions that you are enjoying with activity! That's what you've earned and that's what you have worked for! Congratulations! So proud!

Welcome to low carb living ...lol. I wouldn't eat this way, unless the food was good. You don't make it to 360 lbs unless you like food. My meals tend to be a vegetable omelette, and a lot of meat and vegetable stir fries. I can eat cheese, fruit, beans etc, along with salads. I tend to just eat 10 servings of vegetables.

Seems to me you are just eating healthier carbs, and it should help you lose, as well as increase your energy, which seems to be happening.

The pictures look great. Keep up the exercise, and do what you can on diet. At 1.4 lbs a week, you will be at goal in 19 weeks. In time for summer!

Wow wow wow your figures are great.

Food sounds good, alcohol is the killer as it has nothing our body can use and boy does it love to store those calories.

How do I get a man like you who will shop for 2.5 hours :)????????????????????????????
