Shut up and stop eating!

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Ahhhhhh! There's a thread on the message boards about rejected titles for a wight loss bestseller and one of the titles that cracked me up was called "Shut up and stop eating". lol. I need to make that my motto. That's as positive as I'm gonna get today, sorry.

I had a good streak going and now I'm falling back into my night time eating habits. Yesterday was a 3am bowl of oatmeal. And with that bowl, healthy as it may be, I went over my calorie range. I'm so annoyed. Should I eat less during the day and just save calories for 3am? No, I'm going to conquer this, even if I have to run solely on will power. Tonight, or should I say this morning, I'm not going to eat at 3am.

So something troubled me on the message boards... I know we're a positive community and there's a reason why "shut up and stop eating" is a rejected title, snort. But there was some poor soul who asked how to help reduce her thighs and the answers she got were, and I quote, "embrace your curves". Pretty much everyone told her to accept it. I find that in my community especially (the Black community) we're told to often that big is beautiful and things like that. I'm not saying you shouldn't have good self esteem but I don't like acting as if there's nothing wrong with being unhealthy. I was disappointed with the responses that woman got. It seemed like lazy answers and I usually see better responses than that. Are we trying to hard to be polite?
