Got Lost

Monday, January 14, 2013

It seems as though I got lost for a while!!! Don't know where I went but when fInd out I will let you know.
Finished the new hen house and pen. Today I put the chickens in it and ordered 25 day old chicks to be coming in the first week in February. I am ordering them as a partner with my son. I will take care of them until they are big enough to go out and then all but a couple will go with him. They are all supposed to be layers. The company I get them from has proved to pretty reliable as far as the sexing goes so I am really not too concerned about that. Within the next couple of weeks I will be going over to see what Michael has started for his chickens. I know that he had the fence up but don't know what else he has done I will help him with getting the rest of it ready. He should need it done by the middle of March. Have decided to do some modifying on the first pen that I made. I know now a little better how to make what I want.
Nothing else has been going on except that I had been feeling really punky for a while and seem to be getting over what ever it was that was going on with me. Or at least I am on the upward climb.
Yesterday I went to get meds for the dogs and picked up some spinach seeds and lettuce seeds. I plant to get them planted in containers here in the house. If they grow for me, I will have special greens to share with my chicks. They like their greens as well as almost any thing else I throw out for them. Today I made a big bowl of cooked oatmeal and took it out while it was still pretty warm. They had it all cleaned out by this afternoon. Just thought that they might appreciate a warm meal. I am starting to get two eggs a day. The one little hen has decided to make the bag of pine shavings I have on the patio her nest. As soon as I let the chicks out to roam the yard, she makes a b line for that bag. She laid her second egg in it today. She is going to have to learn what the nesting boxes are for. Maybe she will now that the biggest chickens are in their own space. Sure gives the bantums more room.
That is it for this day.
Even though I have been slack about being on spark that much the last few days, remember that you are still in my thoughts and prayers.
God bless

Make sure that you also eat some of them too!! They are great for the body and spinach is better tasting than the canned stuff that they sell in the store,
