Help Me Lose Weight

    Hey there Jason,

    How are you doing today?

    Just watched this video and I'll be happy to encourage you to lose the weight as I'm SURE there are many others who will do so too. I'll probably come across as mean or rough to some folks here - maybe even to you - but I'm trying to stress the SEVERITY of the situation.

    Two questions:

    1. If not now, then when?
    2. Why are you letting FOOD run your life?

    When will you get serious about this and DECIDE that you are done with the 20 pound loss and regain monkey business that has defined how your approach to weight loss has been in the past? TODAY is when this has to happen. TODAY. You and I have NO GUARANTEE of tomorrow and putting it off, falling back into old ways and giving up isn't a solution, is it?

    NO. It isn't.

    Dude, you are over 400 pounds. Morbidly obese. But you can change that. I APPLAUD YOU for having the guts to post this video. I really do. Now you need to get you backside in gear and start changing that. Because if you don't, you'll be MISERABLE in your last days. You don't want that. You don't want a life full of pain and meds and sleep apnea and is shorter than it should be.

    Choose To Live.


    I know you have it within you to do this. You are much much stronger than you might think you are.

    I like your decision to do some strength training and some cardio and to focus on the food.

    This battle of obesity will be won IN THE KITCHEN. Remember that. You can ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS out-eat your exercise. So don't scuttle your own ship by trying to out-exercise bad eating habits.

    I feel TONS better after dropping 30 pounds. You will too.

    Ask yourself - what's so special about pound number 21? You say that at twenty pounds down things fall apart.

    There is NOTHING special about pound 21 or 22 or 23. They are just like pounds 1-20, right? Right.

    Do these things:

    1. Focus on being an honest and thorough food tracker. Use the tools.
    2. Get up and move a bit. Don't overdo it lest you sideline yourself with injury. At 400+ pounds you've got a lot of weight on your joints. Remember that. (I'm sure you do, but I needed to say that.) Inch by inch it's a cinch. Focus on gradual increases.
    3. Create some rules for yourself like "I don't eat drive-thru food." or "I'm not going to eat Twizzlers because they are contrary to my goal." or whatever you identify as a trigger and a minefield. This works. Do it.

    I look forward to hearing about your progress as the days and weeks progress.

    Be strong. You are strong. Strong enough.

    Why should you lose this weight? You were created in HIS image and HIS likeness, you need to care for the vessel he gave you! He is watching and there to help you through this site and everyone around you. One major thing though:Please get checked by a doctor BEFORE doing any big exercise regimen!! that is very important.. the body is not used to all of that at once, so make sure there are no hidden agendas inside you before anything strenuous!!     Hi there...I think you can see by the response that lots of people are in your are you handling the journey, so far...Is 2000 calories what was reccommended for your start point? The reason I ask is because it may be a bit spartan for you at this point. Working on your daily types and portions can be a way to ease into the loss...and increasing activity. The tracking really helps show where you need to tweak...and there are always things to do and read on this site. Best of luck to you and your is a road to feeling better and enjoying life.

    I think (no... I know) you will find what you need on SparkPeople! We have all been there, some still there, some succeded and moved forward. I myself, am moving forward. Visit my sparkpage. Whatever I can do for you just ask!
    Right now all I know is you need to lose this weight ASAP. You're a young man and have a whole life ahead of you. God loves you and so do I! You "WILL" be a success if you stick with Sparkpeople. I am!
    Just remember don't make your goals too big, as it leaves too much room for failure. Cut calories and exercise at least 10 min. at a time ... your minutes will start building up and before you know it miracles happen. Try chair dancing. Put on some good music and just move what you can boy! Get your "groove on"..I know you want to emoticon . It get's your body movin and your heart to poundin'... enjoy everyday and improve a little each day, even for a few seconds. Keep a journal of your journey just to be able to see how far you're movin forward

    That had to be a very hard and emotional moment for you on tape. It took a lot of courage and strength to speak up and say you need help and I applaud you for doing it. It takes a real man or woman to have the courage to do so. With that said I think you’re off to a great start for it sounds like you have made some very positive plans and have taken steps to insure positive action so it isn't going to be long before you see some very very positive results....     You are so right when you state that ultimately it's up to us to lose the weigh, however, the support of others is crucial in succeeding.     I think we've all struggled as you have, and bounced up and down in our weights. But as long as you keep trying, no matter how many times you think that you've messed up, you'll be moving in the right direction.
    It's great that you've joined SP too. This community is amazing! And they definitely help motivate you and cheer you on. =)

    Jason…You can do it. I know it’s hard to start but no matter what, don’t lose the faith you have that you can. You have taken the first step by deciding to lose the weight and finding others who can help you during your journey. Find some recipes you will like, there are many on here and stay strong. You can do it I and many others have faith that you will.
    The journey of losing weight is also a journey of setting your mind to look at food in a different way.
    For me since starting back on SP. I no longer look at food and think how good it would taste. Since getting on here, when I see commercials and look at other food I think…just think about all the calories, sodium and carbs that’s in it and if I eat it the weight I will gain.
    I post a scripture every morning on my SP page. You are more than welcome to add me as a friend. I know you can do it, stay strong and no matter what believe in yourself.

    There are so many great fruits and vegetables that we can eat that the Lord put on this earth that is good for us, when we start eating those things instead of the many man made products, that has many things in it that we shouldn’t eat, we start losing weight and get healthier each day and that’s always a great thing.

    Jason, I admire you for your desire and determination to lose weight and you have definitely come to the right place because Spark People is full of great people who will be there to help and encourage you in your weight loss journey. Everyone on here can understand what that journey is like because we are all on the same path.     Hey Jason,
    You've taken a big step putting yourself out there and I know it sounds cliche but that really is the momentum you need. That being said, I encourage you to be careful about YouTube. There can be a lot of hate in the comment sections of YouTube and I wouldn't want you to be discouraged. I truly believe in Spark People because they're not proposing a diet. They're proposing mindful eating, conscious actions and lots of activity in a way that is fun and interesting to you. Stick with SP, truly commit and stick with it, and their tools will work for you while you do all the work! ;) Good luck with your goals!!! YOU CAN DO IT!

    You can do this! I see on your spark page that your wife is on here too, and I think if you two can do it together and plan meals together and exercise together it'll real be a great tool to both of you! Just remember, one day at a time. If you had a bad day, start fresh the next day, the most important thing is not to give up. :)
