Calorie Cycling - 01132013

Sunday, January 13, 2013

I love Women's Week. I pick it up at the grocery store faithfully. I can't help but notice there is always a "diet of the week" immediately preceded or followed by the ubber calorie of the week menus and recipes. Just saying...what?
Anyway, this week's diet of the week is calorie cycling, where you alternate 1K days and 2K days. Sounds interesting to me, because I messed up my metabolism back in "the day" by being anorexic, even before Karen Carpenter. I didn't eat for 6 weeks. Amazing, I don't have that kind of will power now. Of course I was text book waiting to happen, once everyone knew the symptoms and psychology of the condition.
Now if I skip or skim on a meal my body is going, "here she goes again, hold on to every calorie," just in case the famine is coming.
I think I will give this a try. 1,000 for one day, knowing I get 2,000 the next day? I think I can handle that. Well, I'm off to set this week's menus. Wish me luck...Ginny4820

I too love how calorie cycling has worked in the past. There is a site to get calorie cycling methods, like how to cycle the days. Daisy's method of using the low and high ends with the variation in between is good and the cycling counter will help you space it out. Go to

Sorry I didn't see the hyperlink button, but copy and paste. By the way, I belonged to both calorie cycling (CC) teams and SP and they really had very little movement to where I gave up and quit the teams. Best of luck if you give CC a try.

I have done calorie cycling, although I did the upper limit of the Spark People tracker one day, lower limit the next day and somewhere in between on the 3 rd day. It worked well for me for a time and then levelled off. After reading your blog, I will try it again! Thanks for sharing and good luck in your Spark journey!
