Listening to My Body

Well, for the past two days (Thursday and Friday), I decided not to workout. I had every intention on workout on both nights! Those two days, I was extremely tired for some strange reason! So, I rested! Thursday night to Friday morning, I got 8 hours of sleep and Friday night to Saturday morning, I got 9 hours of sleep.

Along, with eating well and working out, I am making a strong effort to give my body the rest it needs. This may mean giving myself more rest days than pushing myself to do a 20 minute workout. However, throughout those 2 days, I was still active. At work, I made sure I walked around instead of being in constant sedentary mode. Additionally, I'm doing another challenge with one of my Sparkteams, which I'm actually enjoying. Every time you have to go to the restroom/bathroom, you have to do 10 squats and 10 lunges per leg. I have been feeling these squats & lunges each time I do them. I'm actually looking forward to measuring myself to see what this challenge is doing for my lower body! Also, tonight, I did end up working out!

So, the premise to this blog is to listen to your body! Even though you may want to push yourself, your body may have different intentions! I know there are goals we want to achieve this year, but please listen to your body! It's the only one you'll get in this lifetime. Take care of it and it will take care of you!

You know when you hear something weird with your car, you go check out that noise. Our bodies are the same way! Learn to listen to it!

    We often forget that rest is a very important part of getting healthy, thanks for the reminder.

    We just had this conversation at work on Friday. Sleep really is a healer. Sometimes when you push yourself really hard all the time, rest will actually promote weight loss. I am glad you took those days to catch up.
