Yo-Yo and Back Again

Wednesday, January 09, 2013

Hello My Sparkly Peeps!

After several failed attempts to recapture the glory of last Spring, I've managed to make it a whole week tracking food and even fitting in a little walking.

I've never experienced the 'yo-yo' phase in such acute force before. Yipes! I'd gain 10 pounds one month, lose it in a couple weeks (mainly due to the cessation of drinking gallons of soda and eating fast/processed foods), only to put it back on again. Rinse, lather, repeat. Every time brought the renewed, "This is my last [insert unhealthy habit here]" mantra, followed by the "I'll start tomorrow" bribe, and capped off with, "It's too late to start today, anyway" excuse. Basically, I'd lost all my determination. Now, I realize how precious and important it is.

I'm determined to maintain this healthy lifestyle regardless of whether it brings weight loss, mood improvement or self-esteem. I'm focused because it makes me feel like a better person when I eat fresh, homemade food, drink copious amounts of water, and live more actively. It's only been one week and I can tell a difference. And that's the thing, isn't it? Living this way will eventually bring all those things we desire - weight loss, mood improvement and self-esteem - as long as we are determined and just keep moving forward. One day at a time, one meal at a time, one step at a time, one good decision at a time.

We've got this. emoticon

Whoo Hoo! Glad to see you back on here. I recently just started back up again too. I didn't really gain weight, but I did give up on being healthy and eating right and seeking the motivation and support I so desperately needed. You're so right, it feels so awesome to eat right and excersize and try again. We can do this! emoticon

    Good on you!

Yeah, it's all about the consistency.....days go in to weeks, go in to months!

    Keep at it!
