Reading Once Again!

Wednesday, January 09, 2013

For Christmas this year, I received a Nook eReader from my husband. Up until recently, I had been resisting this new technology. I finally realized that this would be a great way to get some reading done during my down time at work. Yesterday, I received my Nook cover and now I'm ready to go. I have always found it difficult to actually sit down and read while at home. I guess I felt like I should be doing something more productive around the house. Well, today, I DID sit down and I read for about a half hour. It was great! I know my husband will understand if the laundry pile increases in size somewhat, etc. Thanks Dear!! emoticon

emoticon No shame in being a technology late adopter, if in the end you get back to reading!

My husband gifted me a Kindle last February. I've always been a reader anyway but this was a whole new thing. Love it! I also use my iPad to download books. ...and you can download books from the library! So enjoy your nook.

Don't have a kindle, but I got an i-pad for Christmas and I understand you can download books on it also. I use to read a book a week, but haven't for the last 20 years. They started making the print too small :), but I haven't downloaded any yet. Still trying to learn all the things about the i-pad, just found out you can down load books last week. Enjoy!!

I LOVE LOVE my Kindle. And I learned, the text to speech feature is actually pretty decent. I have about a 45 minute commute to work so I use the text to speech feature and listen to my story along the way. I have turned my commute into "me time" and it is heavenly. BUT...I also took 2 weeks off during the holidays when the kids were on break. I spent several days reading all-day-long. It has been MONTHS since I've been able to do that and I enjoyed every minute of it.

There are blogs online that link to Amazon for free Kindle books. Can you read Kindle books on your Nook?? If so, try www.ereaderlove.com. She uploads links by genre and it's amazing how many titles are free. They'll be free for a couple of weeks and then start charging again but usually only a few dollars per book. When you listen during your commute, you go through them pretty quickly. It's nice to get some free titles.

I recieved a book for Christmas from my DH. UnfortunatelyI gave him the same book so we had to go back to the book store to exchange it. Meanwhile, there is a new book out that I wanted so we exchanged for that one. I am an avid reader and will read just about everything going, including cereal boxes if I have nothing on the go. What type of books do you enjoy reading?

My mom got me a Kindle for Christmas & I love it. It is much easier than reading a large print book ( mom used to buy a lot of them ). My mom has one for her & my brother has one that he is letting his mother-in-law use because he is going to school right now. All of our Kindles were bought on the same account so they all have the same books on them.
