Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, January 9, 2013

When we watch movies, we find out the people usually had a motive or a reason for what they did. When we find that out, we better understand why they did what they did. Knowing why is an important factor in life. Knowing why we want to do something can help us better focus on doing it. Let’s think about the things we want to do and write down the why. If our reasons are to help others and glorify God, let’s move ahead with them. If they are for only selfish gain, let’s rethink our plan and ask God to help us set goals that are pleasing to Him.

Galatians 2:20 “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, help us today to know Your why. Help us to stop thinking about why we want things. Help us to stop putting ourselves first. Help us to stop doing what is not pleasing to You and to start doing things that will glorify You and help others. Help us to know and remember that we now have Christ living in us and it is no longer about us and what we want. It is about You and what You want. Help us to trust You and to know Your why. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
