IE is just about "giving up" it isn't. This blog resonated with me on a level that none other has. I have gone rounds with "clean eating" and trying to come to terms with the concept of eating anything. This pretty much summed it up for me. I can eat healthy without the need of having a title to go with it.

Disclaimer: she cusses in her blog (ah, love her!! emoticon ) so beware if you click the link.

Intuitive eating is so much more than an eating plan, it is a way of life. I love it. Just thought I would share since there is so much skepticism out there about IE and it is all about hoarding Snickers bars, soda, and eating oneself into oblivion.

This is pretty much what you've been saying all along. Must feel great to be validated like that.

What's deemed healthy one day, is rubbished the next! One day its good for you, the next it isn't. I'm eating whatever I fancy. I try and avoid sugar, because I like my teeth and resent paying good money to the dentist, but even that sometimes is nice for a change. I just stick to the other rules, about eating when I'm hungry and stopping before I'm full. The only thing that really isn't good for you is too much processed food.

Thanks for this link. I think in some ways it clarifies things and in some ways it almost makes it more complicated for me. I was doing pretty well with just asking my body what it felt it wanted and not making a value judgement......then being mindful as I ate it. I do realize that a lot of the stuff in the supermarket has basically no nutritional value. I was ruling out many of those items because they really don't taste good and were not sustaining (wouldn't keep me filled up and energized for long). However, even when ruling out those foods that most would agree are a zero, there is much argument and varying opinions of what to eat and what not to eat. To start talking about making healthy choices just throws me back into the old mind set. I just feel like I'd be getting all analytical again and trying to figure things out and make rules for myself. Shoot, may as well go back on somebody else's idea of a healthy diet rather than trusting my own instinct and body.

I missed that blog by her, thanks for posting it. I did the mistake up front of the 'eat whatever you want' and not listening to what my body really needed.
