Day 2- Still Strong!

Tuesday, January 08, 2013

As I prepare to head to work, I figure I'll take a few minutes to talk about how I'm doing. Yes, it's only the second day, but I'm still going strong.

My gym experience today was (in my opinion) not as good as yesterdays. I walked more than I would have liked on the treadmill- I kept getting the worst pain in my side. Perhaps I didn't let my food digest long enough. Also, my legs were killing me today. My focus was arms today. I did most of the arm-type machines and then did a couple of core moves (just crunches and reverse crunches). Tomorrow will be another leg-focused day with Thursday being a rest day.

My diet was rough yesterday. I made conscious decisions when it came to eating but the hunger pains kicked in even though I was drinking an exuberant amount of water. I know the first few days, if not the first few weeks, are rough when it comes to dieting. All I seem to think about is food, especially unhealthy food. Drinking protein shakes for lunch is also going to take some getting used to.

In other news, I stepped on the scale today (at roughly the same time as yesterday) and noticed I was almost 4 lbs lighter. Is that even possible? Crazy! But I'll take it!

I'm actually still living at home (that part-time teacher's salary doesn't really cut it for me). I can honestly say that the dinner meals are quite healthy when eaten in moderation. We use a lot of fresh produce and try to vary the types of meat consumed each day. However, there always seems to be candy around the house. The temptation doesn't really hit me unless I'm sitting down watching TV at night.

I was reading about the muscle soreness. Seems that this is pretty common, especially in someone who hasn't worked out in a LONG time. I'm planning on gyming it up again today and using tomorrow as a rest day (I don't really know how restful it'll be since I'll be teaching all day followed by endless hours of staff meetings).

emoticon Do you live alone? If so, you can clean out all the crappy stuff from your home so you're not having all that junk staring you in the face. I have a skinny family and have them put most of their junk food deep in the freezer where I don't have to look at it all the time or off in a corner where it is less noticable.
Your muscle issues might be that they are stiff from yesterday. I started a new dvd and gradually am working up to doing the whole thing. Even though I was used to a completely different dvd I'm sore from this one. If you need to talk to a trainer that may help as they can tell you things to do to lessen the sore muscles and/or cramps. Hope to see how tomorrow goes.
