Next vacation

Tuesday, January 08, 2013

Hubby booked our next vacation, at least the vacation part, not the flight part yet. It is a Western Caribbean cruise, Sunday to Sunday. We have a day at sea each way, with 4 days of back-to-back ports: Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Belize, and Honduras/Roatan (in some order). We will probably do our scuba diving in each port. I am excited for that since I much prefer the warm water diving, and at home we are 3 hours from cold water diving.... okay, cold for me. I have done a dive with a dry suit, but found it more cumbersome than the wet suit, so passed on that for the time being. Maybe in time I will venture to that again. From what I can tell I should be safe taking my 3mm wetsuit with and not be overheated while diving.

I told hubby that I want to go to the Diamonds International store in each port to get the charm for my bracelet; I think there are only 2 ports with stores. It may seem cheesy, but to me it is a memory of the places that we have been, especially since they are all from ports that we have been to together. Last night I compared the charms I have to what is on their website, and I have one that is no longer available, and I do not remember where it is from.. emoticon I guess that each of them counts for a port to me, not a specific city. I have a thing for cruising. The Honduras charm is a must for me since the site says it is a scuba diving charm! How appropriate.

On to more serious things: my eating has not been great the past week since I just have not felt like eating what I made for lunch, but that is changing tomorrow because I am going to eat what I made and is in the freezer for lunch. I put sweet potatoes in foil with some butter and seasoning the other day for my husband to grill, and the turned out really good, so that gives me some carb portions to alternate with the quinoa to go with my protein. We have been busier at work, so I have not been getting as much water as I usually do, so I have to find a way to resolve that issue. Since I am extremely sensitive to the smell of mold, I have to empty and wash out my filter jug at least every other day.

For about the past month my fibromyalgia has been really bad, even though I was limiting the exercise weight when I did it. So the other day I tested a theory; it was just one day, so I have to repeat to see if it holds true. I wear pretty much the same clothes year-round for exercise: sweatpants and short-sleeved t-shirt. Coming and going to the gym I wear a jacket or sweater appropriate for the weather. My theory was that maybe the cooler air, even though indoors, may be too cool for my muscles to handle, so I decided to wear a zippered sweatshirt while working out on Saturday. Interesting thing.... my muscles are a little sore still, but not an 8 pain level as they were. I will do that again my next workout to see what the results are. That would coincide with the fact that I do better in warm weather than in cooler weather. The next time I see the doctor, I will see what she thinks of the idea.

Tonight was league bowling again for my husband's workplace. I played for one of the regulars. My scores were between 86 for the first game and 118 in the second, with the third being at 102, if I recall correctly. It is fun, and good exercise. Several people have commented on how they hardly hear my ball. One strike I got tonight, my husband said it did not even sound like a strike because there was not a lot of crashing of pins. Now if I can just get more strikes that will bring my average up.

Well, I need to be off to bed. Hope all have a good week.

What an awesome vacation CT to be ablew to get to all those dive destinations on one vacation! I hear ya on the dry suit. It sure is a learning curve. It took me awhile to get the hang of it but in our temps it is necessary if we want to prolong the dive season. Then again I still have my limits on how cold I will dive.
