New Beginnings

Monday, January 07, 2013

I joined Sparks in Feb. and like many new members joined several teams. It is the first of the year so I'm cleaning up and getting organized which even extended to Sparks. I am staying on the Peak313 teams since that is the one I am active on. One of my goals is to post or comment on other team members this year.
I went to the strength training class at the gym. It is a little embarrassing when I only have one set of weights(5 pounds) 'compared' to other class participants who seem to have heavier weights and lots of them. I understand that I am not here to compete with others, just improve my physical well being. By nature I'm competitive, and it is hard to reconcile that I'm no longer that high school athlete. For now, I am just trying my best to be consistent, and do the exercises properly. I know tomorrow morning I will be waking up sore. I think I will need to do some stretching exercises in the morning especially since I will be playing a couple hours of volleyball tomorrow night.
I am trying to use my time wisely. Since I seem to have free time on Mon. this may be my blogging day.
I took Leo for a walk today too. It has been almost a month since I've walked the dog due to the cold weather. I was just going to walk around my neighborhood however Leo directed my steps to the walking trail. The temps are to be in the 30's the next few days so I plan to take him out daily in addition to my workouts. Normally my walks have been my time of memorizing scripture. I need to choose a verse and get back to doing a verse a week. Maybe I'll do 2 this week so I can make up for not learning a verse last week. Of course I need to review the verses I learned last year. Ah, it is always a joy to begin again!
