Food Tracking

I actually recorded a vlog today. Or so I thought. I was out for a walk at lunch and talking into my phone and everything, but I guess I didn't hit the record button, because there was no video. It's probably for the best because the street I was walking on was really busy and the traffic noise probably would have been annoying. I will try again next time I'm in a quieter location.
I've been thinking about nutrition tracking. I used to use the Sparkpeople nutrition tracker diligently, entering everything I ate and drank. I haven't done that in quite some time now. I've been debating whether to start tracking again. The thing is, with the slow carb diet, it isn't so much about the number of calories you're eating, but about what foods you're eating. I'm not all that motivated to go back to detailed tracking because to be honest it's really quite time consuming, especially when my meals consist of lots of different ingredients combined. On the other hand, I think there's value in logging what you're eating. So I think I'm just going to include a food log in my blogs, as I've seen some of my Sparkfriends do. I'll start that today.
Yesterday I did get quite a bit done. Grocery shopping done, Christmas decorations put away. I made some chicken and pork in to take to work for lunch. I'm planning on having a burrito bowl every day. This is based on something that they have at Mucho Burrito (essentially the equivalent of Chipotle, from what I gather). You get the burrito toppings you want in a bowl. So I cooked some chicken in the crock pot with onions and peppers and a bottle of green salsa. It's really good. And I cooked some pork with onions and peppers and a bottle of 5 chili salsa. Also really good and spicy. Then I bring some meat, black beans, corn, salsa and guacamole to work and assemble it all. I was pleased with it today. I really like it, so I don't think I'll get bored with it. Feel good about having that prepared. Tonight I'll make a chili and some hard boiled eggs as well.
Ended up going for a walk around our crescent with my boyfriend last night. It's not very far -- about a kilometer, but a really nice walk. Lots of people still had their Christmas lights on, so it was quite pretty. After that, we were discussing ways I could get my step count up, and my boyfriend suggested walking to work. That would pretty much do it. It's about 2.5km one way. The only hurdle I really have is all the stuff I have to carry -- laptop, lunch, purse, workout clothes. However, I think I can avoid bringing home my laptop except on weekends, so that means I could pretty easily walk on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. So there it is Sparkfriends, I am going to walk to work tomorrow morning. I've thought about/talked about doing this in the past, and haven't really done it, other than a couple of times this past summer. Tomorrow is the day. And it's supposed to warm up tomorrow as well, so it should be nice.
I'm only at 5894 steps so far today, even with my lunch time walk. Going to have to do something if I want to make it to 10000 today. And yesterday I only made it to 8640, so I need to get an extra 1300 steps in somewhere over the next week if I want to meet my goal of 70000 steps for the week. We'll see what kind of impact the walk to and from work has on the step count. And I'll probably get my son to go for a walk with me tonight.
