5k Training: Week 1, Day 1

Well, I did it! I started! My alarm went off at 8:30 and you should have heard my groan when I realized I had to get up (Just wait until next semester when I have to get up at 6:45 every day, I tell myself). But I got out of bed, ate a Fiber One bar, got dressed, and headed out to the gym.
I was quite pleased with how I did. My walk/run was at 3.5/6 mph. The walking pace kept me feeling like I was actually doing something (as opposed to my strolls through the park), and the running got me to break a sweat. But here's the beautiful thing: you can do anything for a minute. By the time I even registered that I was working hard at the run, I was already 45 seconds into it. Only 15 seconds more! A very encouraging start, but I know that it will get harder next week.
Wednesday I will post goals for the next 8 weeks.
