My own best friend

Monday, January 07, 2013

I am learning to be my own best friend. No one can do this but me. If I am to make this work I have only me to count on. There are friends and loved one who are there to help me every step of the way, but I must make this work on my own. My friends and loved ones can't loss the weight for me(wish that they could). I have only me first thing in the morning. So I have to make up my mind to be positive from the get go! Small pep talks through the day help to keep the positive mind set. emoticon

I came across this poem in a book in the early 1980s. I know it was written by Barbara Howar, and I think the name of the book was "Making Ends Meet." I was taking calligraphy lessons at the time, and I liked the poem so much that I wrote it out in calligraphy. I keep it on a shelf in my bathroom where I can see it everyday, for reasons just like yours.

"It's nice to believe when the going gets rough
That your friends will come running to make things less tough
But you'll find you're the strongest when standing alone
And the help you rely on is solely your own."

Best wishes with your weight loss program!
