Time Audit

Monday, January 07, 2013

Do you know how your life seems so busy that you do not know how you will fit in another thing? Then all of the sudden something new gets thrown on your plate and you manage to make that part of your every day routine as well. I was talking to my boss who said once he did some independent consulting in Spain. He said that he was amazed at how few hours they worked as compared to Americans. What was amazing is that they got much more work done. He said they spent their time putting a concerted effort into there work. They were present 100% while they were working and got more done in less time. It made me wonder how much time I might be wasting unawares!

I thought it might be good to do a time "audit" and write down how much time I am spending on certain activities throughout the whole day. I am betting I will find some extra time to fit in those activities I am simply "too busy" to do! emoticon

This gives me something to think about. I'm sure I'm wasting a lot of time when I could be more productive (no matter how busy I think I am). I need to work on this also. Thanks for sharing.

Other countries are amazingly more laid back. I bet they have less ulcers and worry lines than we all pack around. I think the idea of evaluating your time is great!

I think we multi-task too much. I read an article somewhere that we hardly ever just focus on one task from beginning to end but are constantly interrupted with emails, texts, and phone calls. (here I am sparking at work)

Anyway, love the idea of a time audit. They say if its important to you you'll make time to do it.

I am terrible to waste a few minutes here, a few minutes there, instead of just getting in and getting stuff done. I really need to work on my time management.
