BLC training snapshots..

Here we go. I haven't had an updated photo here on Spark since last August? As in August 2011? Yikes.

Good grief. The good news is, I ~know~ my pictures will look different after the next 12 weeks. I have not so long ago felt like I look in those pictures. Recently though, I'm feeling more like the girl in my profile pic moreso than these. Time to make the outside match the inside again.

Yesterday was a good day. After seasoning a couple of cast-iron skillets, we got dolled up and headed off to the Convention Center for a home improvement expo - work gave our free tickets, and Bill enjoys those kinds of shows, so why not. I'm not as much a fan of expos, because while I understand the people in the booths are doing their thing, it drives me nuts that they're all asking 'have you signed up' or 'would you like to try' or 'can I interest you in..'. I just want to walk around and look without conversation LOL I know that's odd, but that's me.

We took the Max down and spent about an hour walking around looking at everything. We purchased Miracle Grill Mats, which are nifty mats you can use on your grill to keep the grill clean but still get the grill marks and flavors, etc.

We also received the Miracle Baking Mat as a 'free gift'! It can be used in place of parchment paper, which I love, but hate because it rolls right up instead of laying flat on the tray.

I know - such first world problems LOL

We headed off to JoAnn's fabric after that. Bill has been wanting a sewing machine for years now, and I finally realized oh! I can get him one for Christmas this year! Since he's retired and stays home every day, and I never Ever get to go anywhere without him (or rarely) it's tough to shop for the guy. Well, Amazon to the rescue. I was able to find a good sewing machine and starter kit with all the doo-dads one needs to sew, and order it to be delivered to work. How smart am I, eh?

So, he loved the gift, and has been very enthusiastic about using it. So far he has made new cage covers for the birds, finished bandanas for the puppies, and stitched up blankets that we'll be donating to the Humane Society. He wanted to pick up a few more supplies, which equalized walking around the store checking everything out.

Once we got home, he got a case of the sleepies, so he and the puppies went to the Big Bed to snooze and I went for walk.

Now, let me tell you - knowing I had committed to at least 20 min. walking for my BLC training team was in the forefront of my mind. I ~knew~ I needed to get it done. I said I would, and I was gonna!

And I did!

I started out thinking I'd do just 2 miles, but it ended up being closer to 3. You know that old saying - leave them wanting more? That's where I am right now. I felt like I could go further, longer, but I wrapped it up at a reasonable time/distance, knowing that I can increase the time/distance next time.

Those pictures up there were taken after the walk, after trying to find a nice clear blank wall to stand in front of. We didn't have any LOL so outside we went. It worked out well enough.

So, walk accomplished, and feeling pretty spiffy, I offered Bill the option of going out to eat or staying in and tossing something together. He opted to go out, and picked Chipotle - a Mexican grill. They have yummy food, and you can make it your way.

I had a carnitas bowl, no beans or rice, with peppers and ones, salsa, sour cream, cheese, and lettuce, and it was delish!

All in all? It was a good day. Really really good.

Something struck me funny yesterday - GayeMC mentioned, astutely enough, that I was posting on a weekend LOL She was right to say it with a bit of surprise. I have previously foresworn being online over the weekend. I'm on a computer all day long, every day at work - which is what makes it easy to be in touch during the week.
I've let Bill know that I've signed up for the BLC team, and that it would mean a bit more online time on Spark even on my days off. In the past he's made grumbley noises about my being on the computer so much, but this time he said if it helps me be successful and feel better, he's all for it. We'll see if he remembers that statement LOL

I'm so far behind with blogs. I couldn't believe the pic of you in a tank top outside at this time of year. Then I wore one yesterday with a belted sweater and had to take the sweater off too many times through out the day, LOL!

I'm with you about people wanting me to sign up at those expos. Eesh! But it sounds like you got some make that *miraculous* helpers! LOL!

Very cool that Bill sews and love his gift! I love that he's already put it to good use!

Good luck balancing SparkTime and BillTime! I'm glad he is supporting you - not that he isn't. I get the same grumbles from hubby too once in a while.

You are quite clever to have the gift shipped to work. I love to sew but I'm not very good at it. Too bad I can't share my stock pile of material with him. Sigh. I have such good intentions when I buy it.

Way to go on the walking instead of napping. That would have been a hard choice for me. I love to kick back in my chair with Nicky kitty. Good job!

    Keep going! You're doing great.
