my 2nd mother

Sunday, January 06, 2013

My mother-in-law passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. How do you say goodbye to someone who was there with you for just about everything? I've known Joan for 34 years, I married her son and divorced him but still stayed close to her. After my own mother passed, she just sort of took her place. Joan was a very caring person to everyone's life she touched. The only good thing about her passing is that she is not in pain anymore. The last year of her life was very painful, she had arthritis and back and leg issues making it impossible for her to be mobile anymore. Many people turned out for her funeral and they all talked about how she touched their lives. JOan loved my sons with all her heart, she was so proud of her status as grandmother, she also has 2 other grandchildren who she loved just as much. I could go on and on about how wonderful she was but what I'm reflecting on today is how fragile life is to just make the most out of each day. The snow that came last night sort of cleaned out the sadness from yesterday alittle bit.
