Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

10 days ago I finally got to see the podiatrist (this is something that I have been begging for from military medical for at least 3 months). He examined my left foot and determined that I have Morton's neuroma and plantar fasciitis. 2 shots later, he sent me on my way and even told me to run if I felt like it. Well, I opted to walk the dogs instead because my foot was quite tender. So the next day I noticed that I had bruising at both injection sites but the tenderness was minimal. I ran very conservatively on the treadmill for no more than 20 minutes a a time and made sure I wore the special insoles he gave me (which are heavenly - like trampolines in my shoes). Yesterday I ran for 30 minutes and a little faster than usual. This morning I woke up, wide awake and my feet were sore. I took my Motrin and rolled my feet with the frozen water bottle. Then I got out the golf ball and I've been sitting here getting my Sparkpoints and rolling the golf ball with both feet, alternating every few minutes. They already feel better and I'm hoping that I can run a little bit today. I'm really trying not to dwell on the fact that the marathon I signed up for in November (and happens in February) is no longer a reality for me. This is the same marathon I ran last year with an IT band issue. Maybe I will be ready for one of the marathons they have here in October. For now, I will just keep rollin', rollin', rollin'......

P.S. You will heal a lot faster than I did, because you got the shot. I didn't.

From personal experience, plantar fasciitis can take a loooooong time to heal. I used one of those dryer balls with the points for rolling. Helped a lot. It also helps to stretch your hamstrings. Remember the legs-up-on-the-wall stretch I was doing in your yoga class? That one. All because I was wearing the wrong shoes for Amanda's Zumba class.

Your liners sound wonderful. What kind are they?

Hang in there. It gets better.

Keeping positive helps! I am impressed with how well you've done. Spark is such a blessing. I am more active now than I ever was in my youth. But so many years of being overweight has taken its toll and I am dealing with arthritis in my hip and knees. However, I know the exercise helps, and weight loss will also help. If it comes to needing surgery (which is pretty likely at least in the hip) I want to be in as good a shape as possible to make recovery easier. I don't want the scale to creep up on me again!

May God bless you in your journey to a healthier you.
