New Tricks for an Old Dog!

Saturday, January 05, 2013

I joined the Spark team "New Year New Things - 52 in 2013" with a goal to try something new each week of the year, and I'm going to try to blog about each new trick this old dog learns! The first has just been completed. I bundled up and went snowshoeing. Now I am not a fan of winte0r AT ALL, but during this little adventure I tried to concentrate on the beauty of the sun shining on thepure white snow, making millions of tiny sparkles. There was a little bite in the wind, but other than that I dressed warmly enough that I wasn't cold. Within the first 5 minutes my hips were burning, but they loosened up in another 5 minutes and I was fine. It was a good workout in the company of good friends, and definitely great exercise for my body as well as my soul. We're going again tomorrow afternoon.

Congratulations on a great new thing learned. I tried it once while working at the College and decided to take a snowshoe and cross country ski class after I retired. I love the snowshoeing, but will forgo the cross country ski's -- a little too fast and I was falling all the time to the point where I had to put padding in my too-big-athletic-pants. I so needed that on the icy path.

Looking forward to seeing what other new things you'll be trying this year. Great start!
