TV & Diets - I'M NOT BUYING!!

Saturday, January 05, 2013

January always brings the push of commercials for Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem and so many others. These programs work for thousands of people. CBS, NBC, ABC, Reality TV, they all are showing stories about great losses, what has worked, what to do, how to do it, etc. This morning a lady was interviewed. She had lost over 100 pounds on her own. She set mini goals, researched nutrition and started exercising.

Last night on one of the shows (I think 20/20) there was a story about ACAI Berry (not sure the spelling) and how the company and marketers made millions on fake advertising for weight loss. So many people are looking for the easy road to weight loss. I was one of them. I went on those on-line sites and almost pulled out my credit card. At some point, I decided that I am not buying one more diet book, I am not buying the pills or suppliments that promise "something". It comes down to calories in and calories out!

My weapon of choice is! I thank you great people out there who help thousands or even millions of others.

Find what works for you. Be Stong! Stay With It. WE WILL REACH OUR GOALS!!

Totally agree. I have wasted sooooooooo much money on looking for THE MIRACLE, the one thing that will take away the pain of losing weight. Something that will make it easy to do. I have only just realised that there isn't one, its taken me 52 years to realise it. So no more being fooled by those ads with females with perfect bodies and there banter of supplements being the weight loss miracle!

There is no shortcut in losing weight. Good thing for you and everyone who recognize that hard work and dedication to the old fashioned way works best (change of lifestyle and workout).

I saw that 20/20 show too, and all the successful losers lost weight and kept it off by diet and excercise. No easy fix, and maintaining is even harder.

Spark People is the best thing going for making lasting changes in eating and exercise. The fringe benefit is that as we feel and look better we also increase self esteem and reduce signs of depression.

Hey, 20 20, how about a show on how successful SP can be for people.

I totally agree. It didn't come on overnight, it isn't going off that way.
