Day Three

Friday, January 04, 2013

Yeah, I made it to day three! It sounds silly, but I usually can't make it past day now that I have a kid. It is so much easier to grab some unhealthy snack and sit on the couch watching cartoons with him than it is do do whats right for both of us. This is changing! Thanks to this awesome tool I am eating healthier and exercising more often. No more excuses! I am soo ready to get back to my old self again. I used to love getting dressed up and going out, shopping, and socializing. Right now all of those things sound scary! I hate going out because I am embarrassed of what I have let happen to my body, I loath shopping because nothing EVER fits me and if it does I look hideous, and socializing requires me to do pretty much all of those things. Ugh! Things are going to change though... My biggest challenge so far is going to be this weekend. I find my diet and work out regimen harder to follow while my husband is home. So wish me luck and a whole lot of self discipline! emoticon

Hi, I'm pretty new to spark so I've been pretty shy about offering any advice while I'm still learning. Here goes though.... Although my children are grown, I keep my 2 year old grandson while mom and dad work. I totally get the home all day with a toddler thing! Most days it's too cold here to play outside also. I found that Jake thinks it's quite fun to dance and "exercise" with Nana to a workout tape! Ha, my form isn't that great but I'm definitely moving around more than usual! As far as the weekend goes, maybe daddy could entertain your little one for a bit while you get a workout in. Wishing you the best!

Thanks for the tip! I would love to go outside and walk or chase after my son, but it's 19 degrees right now :( I LOVE to bowl too, I was in a league before moving out here. I really do need to go more often! It burns calories and is fun! I just have to convince my husband that it's fun. He isn't really into it and so I don't go often since he isn't thrilled with going and watching or staying home and watching our crazy toddler. I hate leaving him home alone and going out, when he is the one that works all week :( I need to find something we can both do and enjoy... Even in this awful cold weather.

One thing that has become a habit for my husband and I is simply take a walk around our neighborhood or go to a park and play catch with a baseball/frisbee. We spend more time walking toward missed throws than actually catching it, but we have fun and enjoy the time outside. When it is "cold" (I live in Southern California) we like to go bowling. I know often has family packages that make their rate reasonable.
Find ways to get moving. I dance when I put away laundry, get up and do some form of exercise during commericals for tv shows. Be creative.
    Blessings on your journey
