Thursday of a short work week

I forgot to blog yesterday, but here's a recap. I'm back up to 5 days off sugar and already feeling good that it's mostly out of my system. I didn't go for my walk, but I did climb 10 flights of stairs.
I forget the overall happy feeling I have when I'm not eating sugary-non-food items. It's not sudden or strong like the immediate rush I get from eating the sugar in the first place. But it's pervasive and a consistent level and overall quite nice. Plus it comes without the huge crash (both in mood and blood sugar) that comes after eating sugar. My body is feeling better too. That's partly staying off the sugar and partly cuz I'm trying to walk more and partly cuz my osteopath is amazing and has made some huge positive adjustments to my frame, structure and soft tissue. I feel better balanced - physically and emotionally. It's a really good way to start the year.
Even though I'm still over my calories a few days a week, and still not getting in as much walking as I should, I feel like I'm in a good place. I'm making progress and I'm actually sort-of enjoying the journey. I don't know the last time I was able to do that. Probably not since before I got married when I was off sugar for 8 months. But at that point I was also planning a wedding so that was a whole different kind of pervasive happiness. :D I like that I'm just happy and not doing the semi-psycho spazzed out thing where I make a ton of resolutions and start a whole bunch of new things all at once only to burn out in a couple of weeks cuz the changes were to sudden to be sustainable. I started my changes (again) in early December, made progress, only got a little set back at Christmas, have regained that lost ground and am on track.
So yeah, good start to the new year. I hope all you other sparkers are also doing well!
