Training for my first Half Marathon!!

I know I haven't been posting much lately but I'm still keeping the spark alive!
I was wondering if anyone has any advice or encouragement for me. My biggest fitness goal so far is to complete a half marathon! The race day is May 5th, 2013 and I believe you have to keep at least a 13:45 pace so you don't get picked up by the shame van, I'm not trying to go too fast but as long as I finish and get my finishers medal I will be one happy camper!
I know I need to drink a lot of water and that eating a few bananas daily will help. I'm trying to do squats/lungs and other strength work daily because I figure I can come at this race from all angles- trying to lose a few pounds, increase lung capacity, trying to strengthen my legs and trying to strengthen my mind to know I can do this!
I think I can do about 4 miles an hour, I know it's not -amazing- but at least it's a start! My goal for January I think will be to be able to continually do that 4 miles an hour, and maybe in a few weeks I'll increase that treadmill time to try to do longer periods at that pace before I start the training program in early Feb.
