Simple Diet Journal #31 -- Glad I Gave Away My Pants

Wednesday, January 02, 2013

A few months ago, I was trying to figure out if I should hold on to pants that had become too big. A number of Spark friends suggested to give them away -- and, that is what I decided. I am so very glad I did.

I gave away the two larger sizes and kept the current one. Then, I lost a bit more and had to buy a smaller pair -- leaving me with jeans in 2 sizes -- not 4. When the larger of the 2 sizes began to start feeling different (you know what I mean :-) -- I realized that I had to take action and get the ball in gear again. I'm so glad I did!

Now, I'm thinking -- that when I get down to a size that's a size smaller than the smaller pair I now own -- I'm going to give away the larger one. As I write that, part of me takes a small breath in -- thinking -- really? should I? But, if I really want to reach my dream weight and stay there -- what would I need the bigger size for?

I'm not one who likes to burn bridges with friends and family and former co-workers -- but, I think in this instance -- it's important to burn my bridges with bigger pants (that sounds so funny, but you get the gist, I'm sure :-) -- and it's proven to be so motivating -- a motivator to stay on plan that I never had realized could be so powerful for me.

Smiles for you today!

Good for you. I did that when I had lost 100 lbs. When I gained the weight I had to listen to the voice of my mother saying if I had kept them then I could wear them now (when I had gained back). I'm proud of you for ignoring that voice. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Many, many SP folks can relate to battling that inner voice that tells us we just might need those pants again...

I have gotten rid of some of my "big" clothing but I am afraid to get rid of the really nice pairs of pants! BUT they are packed away. Good for you!!!
