2013 day two

The rain was supposed to have moved out of the area by morning, but that wasn’t the case. There was a steady drizzle for most of the ride to work, so the glasses came off in short order. It really wasn’t that bad though. Traffic wasn’t bad. There were some cars pulling into the Thomas Nelson Community College parking lot. Time for the Spring semester to begin. My thoughts drifted to the students entering their second sophomore semester. What are their plans? Who is graduating and heading into the work force? Who is continuing on to one of Virginia’s fine four year institutions? Who is sticking around for another semester because they were partying a little too hard as a freshman?
The highlight of the ride was getting to see a Blue Heron at the ponds near work. I always enjoy seeing and hearing the wildlife. Even if that means dodging the Canadian Goose crap on the sidewalks leading to my building. Thank goodness for full fenders.
I thought I would have to wipe dry the bike after the commute. However, by the time I had showered, it was fully dry. Gotta love that warm dry stairwell where I park my bike. I took the time for a lunchtime ride today. Did 12.5 miles doing loops on the lesser traveled roads near my work. It really took some motivation to go out while the wind chill is 32 degrees. You just have to want it badly enough. The ride home was fun as always. 31.84 miles for the day.

Way to go!! But remember that just because the road dirt has dried doesn't mean that the bike is clean. Not a bad idea to wipe it down when you get home.

That's certainly a good start to the year. I don't have the motivation to ride in that kind of weather. Way to go!

Those are some impressive miles, especially with it being cold and wet! Good for you for sticking with it despite the weather!! emoticon
