It is a brand new year, time to set some goals!

I have been working out and running on a regular basis and I'm very proud of myself. But I want to step it up a notch and finally lose the last 25 lbs to reach my goal weight. I also want to compete in my first 10k race this spring. I have two in my local area this spring and I will be deciding which one and signing up in the near future. I am currently running 4 miles, and confident that I will be ready by April.

I will start tracking all my food again, I have been really bad about this lately. And I know I went a little over board over the holidays. I'm not upset, I have been maintaining a steady weight. I have felt the results of my bad food choices over the last couple of weeks, and I don't like it. I feel horrible, I know it is my diet and I need to change. I have been working a lot of hours and that has added to my problems. It is very difficult to cook and prepare healthy food when rushed for time and no plan in place. I sat down this weekend and starting getting a plan together, I have planned healthy meals and snacks that are quick and easy for the week ahead. The overtime at work is not going to quit anytime soon, so I must adapt. I will take the time each weekend to prepare for the week ahead. I know this may mean doing some extra cooking for the week or planning quick meals.

Another goal is to keep working on getting enough sleep. I have always struggled with this. However, I have made progress in the last year. I now realize how much better I feel when I get 8 hours of sleep every night. It really effects my workouts when I have not had enough sleep for a few days in a row. I will start sticking to a set time to go to bed and get up, this will help me a lot.

That sums up my goals for the next few months, here is to a healthy start of 2013!
