running and other goals for 2013

these are not resolutions. they are goals, and/or plans.
i will keep running on a regular basis and training because it provides structure. it's pretty clear to me that i don't have the time to try training for a marathon … some year maybe. i do plan to occasionally get the LSR up to 18-20 miles, once every month or two. figuring two 5-mile weekday runs (much shorter doesn't make a lot of sense, because i spend 20 minutes getting to and from the river), and the alternate Sunday speedwork (800s for now) and alternate Sunday LSRs – roughly 17-27 miles a week. so 25 weeks of 17 miles and 25 of 25 miles = 1050 miles. so the goal is 1000 miles of running – which this year i will count separately (in the running log i am going to try to keep properly, after reading the whole chapter in one of the Galloway books) from my walking miles, which i will continue to include in my spark fitness minutes (especially the 3 mile walk with the full grocery cart, once or twice a month!). roughly 4 hours of running a week is 240 X 50 = 12000 minutes for running.
although i would like to add some cardio ( a fourth run every other week – or maybe nordic track, or water aerobics, though that takes up so much more time than the exercise), i think regular ST has priority. and some home yoga practice, besides yoga class twice a week. so I am joining another January bootcamp to get me back in the habit of daily exercise.
need to get back on track for eating … but am actually confident i can do that. that means going back to tracking. got a slow cooker for Chanukah and have 4 new cookbooks for it … and would like to improve our nutrition with more legumes and pulses. but seem to spend more timer reading my running books. which is another goal … finding time for reading something that's not a cookbook or a running book. i used to read all the time … which is one reason i became a translator and editor, because reading is what i loved to do … so now it's work. i wonder if i could manage one real book a month now?
ok, now i'm rambling and not planning. but thinking about ideas for plans.

    And good point, distinguishing between goals and resolutions, goals are a direction while resolutions seem just plain rigid.

    These look great!
    I, too, am trying for 1000 miles in 2013. I think it is doable.
    Your long run goal is inspiring me to "push out" those miles myself. I know how I feel after 15..... 17 or more will be an adjustment.
