How Do I React to Setbacks?

I usually dig in and try harder. I do not like to admit to defeat. So I look at my "delayed" progress as a learning tool and dig in that much harder. That is what I am doing now. I went on vacation and put on 4 pounds. Now it is time to get back with the program and put forth a real effort. I am going to take a closer look at what my goals need to be and decide if I am willing to go there. I think I am. I need to quit making excuses and work harder on my portion control. So what if my dear hubby doesn't want to do this with me. I don't need to be sidetrack by what he is willing to do. This is about me and about how healthy I want to be. I know I can do it. I need to JUST DO IT!!

    You can do it Rene. You have worked so hard and come so far to just give up now. Unless this is where you want to stay, then you need to keep on fighting. We can tackle our portion control together!!!

    Hi - I too have started again ! I have started this time with a totally different attitute. I used to give in much too easily - and find all sorts of excuses. This time I have not actually told anyone ( obviously only my lovely Husband ! ) and I am taking each day as it comes. I have been more sucessful this time I think because I am not quite so neurotic about it. I also weigh myself only once per week - instead of dancing on and off the scales almost every day. I also purchased a relaxation tape - which is absolutely fantastic - this too has helped this time.
    Keep going, and as I said take one day at a time - keep in touch and let me know how you get on.

    Don't fret! If he sees you doing well. He might even join you. I did!
    I have the same problem trying to stick with my portions. I always seem to eat the good stuff but get told that is not healthy too many calories. Today, I ate plenty of veges and had fruit. I did well today. I am trying but it is hard.

    Rene - You can do this! My DH doesn't observe portion control and the whole nine yards. He still eats what he wants and will bring it into the house if I don't! LOL I bet you can relate. I was kinda stalled out there for a while and realized that I was consistently low on my fat intake - I upped my fat intake and started losing at a more reasonable rate again. Remember it isn't about depriving yourself it is about enjoying yourself in moderation!
