My beautiful and healthy newborn... and an unwanted c-section

Sunday, December 30, 2012

I welcomed my bundle of joy on Dec 10th, a beautiful, healthy and very fit boy, weighted 7lb 11 ounces and measured 53 cm. I'm so happy about it, and I saw that eating so healthy and being active throughout my pregnancy really paid off (the last day I went to the gym was Friday, Dec 7). The anaesthesiologist said that she could tell that I exercised a lot because could feel all my muscle layers when inserting the epidural, and the OB-Gyn said that he even skipped the stitches of the fat layer... because he didn't find one!!! And the best of all, my cute baby has, as amazing as it sounds, beautiful round shoulders, a toned tummy and can really tell where his little quadriceps are... the pediatrician said that he had never seen a baby so fit. The somewhat bittersweet news is that I was so ready for a natural childbirth that I really didn't expect to have a c section, but it had to be done because I was already in labour but when my Ob-gyn examined me, he couldn't feel the baby's head. I was 3 cm dilated and my water had already been broken, so we couldn't give him more time. The good news is that I'm very well recovered, almost painless and ready to start weightlifting again as soon as my doctor allows me :o). At two weeks from the big day, I was just 2 pounds over my pre pregnancy weight, thank you breastfeeding!!!

To all the pregnant ladies... keep up the good work, and if you're sedentary, remember that never is too late to begin!!!
