Timing is everything!

I was looking for another excuse NOT to do my 17 mile run today, other than yucky, cold, rainy weather. Think I had a pretty good one - going to visit my sister in the hospital!

It's never a good thing when your sis is in the hospital from a burst appendix. As my title implies, though, timing IS everything.

My sister lives in Belize six months out of the year, and she had traveled home to the US for Christmas. She had started feeling bad before she came home, but then it got worse once she arrived here. By the time she gave in to going to the doc...her appendix had burst. Off to the hospital for emergency surgery she went!

So, how does timing come into play? Had this happened in Belize - there are NO hospitals or surgeons in Belize that could have handled this emergency. She would have had to travel to Guatemala City or Mexico for treatment. AND...she would have needed to bring an interpreter! So, it was a really good thing it happened here in the US - even though this is not how anyone wants to spend Christmas!

If all goes well, she will be discharged tomorrow. Looks like she will need to change her ticket back to Belize as she probably won't be ready to fly by January 6.

My running excuse has now expired. 17 miles - tomorrow or Monday? We shall see...

Life is what happens while we are busy making (other) plans. Visiting your sister is infinitely more important than a run, IMHO.

Wishing your sister a successful and speedy recovery. Glad she was able to get treatment so quickly here in the US!

Yeah - umm...about that run, seems like your excuse has run out so just go for it!

Hope your sister recovers fully and quickly. You are right - amazing how He works sometimes. Now get out there and run tomorrow - or Monday.
