Death by Burpee

...I am not sure what to say except that I just tried to work out today for the first time in like 3 months and I got a really big reality check as to my real level of fitness.

I joined this site which so far seems really great called Dailyburn.com. In it you select if your fitness level is beginner or advanced so that it can recommend the proper workout program for you. The workout programs are videos that you watch right there and do daily and so it is very cool and simple to use. Well, since I am a former athlete, pretty familiar with working out and wanting to avoid getting something that was too easy and didn't push me to challenge myself...I decided to select advanced.

Cut to 15 minutes later, I am on my floor, partly naked since I took off my shirt to try to sop up the excessive sweating that was pooling onto my floor. My ankle is slightly throbbing after using a makeshift "plyometric box" that is actually a small fireproof safe I had in my closet. (Hey, the video said you can modify equipment if you don't have any and I am nothing if not resourceful!)
The slick from my 3 inches of sweat probably caused it to slide from under me and I tumbled to the ground.

The super cut lady in the video was yelling, "Great job, keep it up! Don't stop! I am SO proud of you!" She was still yelling encouragement while I limped to turn on my coffee maker and then to my bathroom to get in the shower.

I changed my program to the Dance fitness program. Hopefully that will be easier, safer, equipment free and more fun than my brush with death today.

Lesson learned.
