Preparing for 2013 - A Change and a Challenge

The world did not end on December 21, 2012 - It really wasn't supposed to either. The Mayan's believed that at the end of a cycle on the long count calendar just signified great change. We know that there is great change coming - and we have to prepare for it. Additionally, it is the time of year where we set goals. This past year I made some changes and did pretty well on my goals considering everything that was happening. This year I am putting new habits to work and trying a few tricks to help me along the way.

I have always had a goal to walk 14 miles per week - which is roughly 2 miles per day. It gets me out of the chair and out from behind my desk. I am still setting that goal this year - but and doings something fun. Turns out that 14 miles per week is roughly 728 miles or about the same driving distance from Ponca City, OK to Minneapolis, MN - so am taking a virtual walk to Minneapolis - my first stop will be Winfield, KS about 42 miles away - so will be tracking my distance along a map. Additionally, I will be logging my steps on walk.walgreens.com - and getting reward points in addition to Sparkpoints. Should be fun.

I am just ttrying to keep my habits working and hopefully I will be getting some other items ready. Think I will join a couple of horse riding challenges as well as a bicycle challenge. If I can keep up with these - I will meet my other goals.
