Holidays 2012

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

I'll admit it. The Christmas season makes me decidedly anxious. Family that we only see once or twice a year came for a visit; and stayed at our apartment. Christmas also means that things are spread out throughout the week-we had our first one last Thursday night (with pizza and wine), yesterday with my parents (and breakfast casserole, eggs, and fruit salad), today with Kiera (with cinnamon rolls) and probably again tomorrow with my parents AND Kiera. They're also bringing pizza. It used to be that I was worried I wouldn't get my gifts done in time. That's not the case this year, everything was done (aside from my brother and his girlfriend-but I have ot mail those anyhow) in time.

This year it was the food. After being told at the doctor's office that I needed to loose weight-I was concerned about how much food there would be over the holidays. I've been successful avoiding the soda and have limited the coffee to one cup every few days instead of every day.

I stepped on the scale at my mom's yesterday morning and found that I'm down 4.5 pounds! Now, I know that that doesn't mean much since I won't always weigh myself on that scale; but it was a nice confidence booster!

Even my gifts were encouraging my weight loss! My parents gave me two Under Armour shirts to wear at work and on my walks (I hate being cold!), along with a new Paleo cookbook since I've talked a bit about wanting to try a more Paleo centered diet for a while now, along with a new food processor since my old one broke. I also got some really fun gifts (some movies, a sock monkey!, and some gift cards. My brother and his girlfriend got me a gift card to Amazon, and I've had a hard time deciding what to buy with it...I'm tempted to put it towards a new scale, but part of me wants to do something ridiculous and fun with it too.

All in all it was a fantastic holiday! Can't wait to keep my healthy attitude up for 2013 so that I can be the healthy beautiful bride I know I have inside me; and to become an even healthier family in 2013.
