If you are reading this blog before the one named "2013 Will Be My CHAMPIONSHIP YEAR!!!" You will want to check out this link so that it makes more sense what I am talking about.
So now back to Day 1 of Training Camp. Basically this was a day of beginnings. It was a day of returning to FUNDAMENTALS! I went back to some of the Fast Break goals that I set at the beginning when I joined SP.
Sometimes we have to go back to where we started and get back to doing the things that were helpful and successful. I had gotten way off track so I wanted to reboot the system and begin Training Camp with the small changes that I know I needed to get back on track.
I looked back and saw that I was very consistent with exercise for a long time before I got off track. Even though I only did 10 minutes, I was able to do that everyday and then as I built the consistent pattern, I was able to begin increasing minutes and adding other exercises. So I know that even if I start with a fewer number of minutes, eventually, I can increase them. That isn't a failure, it is part of a growing time.
I also lost my footing in the area of drinking water. For me, that is a big thing as I struggle with water retention if I don't drink enough water. Today was a great example of that. So, I decided to go back to that Fast Break goal of drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. BTW - I drank 12 glasses of water today! Woo hoo!
I have looked at some other things that I did as FUNDAMENTALS and am excited to get Training Camp underway. This will be a short term camp as I have the Pre-Season just around the corner so it is important to begin building on the things I have been doing and to increase where I am ready to increase.
Okay so before I have anyone jumping the fence to rush the field, I need to say that I am NOT getting caught up in all the numbers that one can get caught up in. Yes, some of the numbers are important and I am not going to ignore them but I am not going to stress myself over them. I am also not adding too many things to my plate that might stress me out or cause me anxiety. Part of this season is making changes to the lineup where needed and if something doesn't work, it get benched or it gets cut from the team! lol
Right now, this time is a time to get things in place and begin to think about the Pre-Season. I am not going to look too far down the road. It is important to focus on one day at a time. I am only making weekly goals and working those goals on a one day at a time basis. I am a part of a couple teams right now that have me busy with different challenges that I will bring into each daily "practice".
Showing up to "practice" is expected and I need to be prepared. I need to suit up daily and put my best effort! If I don't put in the best effort at "practice", I won't be prepared for Pre-Season and it will throw off my season. Not an option! I am not looking for perfection just that I do my best and not compare myself to anyone else. Just like what I am doing might not work for you, what you are doing might not work for me. What we need to keep in mind is that what we are trying to accomplish is the same but some of us have to find their own plays to get the job done. You may not agree with my steps but you can sure cheer me on to victory!
So with that being said, I need to get back to the club house and get a good night sleep as practice tomorrow is shaping up to a be a butt kicker!
