I think you can just ignore that jerk. I'm always the fattest, slowest "runner" at the park... more of a jog really... okay sometimes I'm so slow that Spark calls it walking... but in the end I feel great (!) because I did it with my own two feet and self-motivation. So even when I watch an 80-year-old, barefoot dude go zipping past at twice my speed, I'm still proud of me because I didn't sit on the couch doing nothing. If you can do three miles in 30-40 minutes, you are way ahead of a lot of skinny, inactive people who couldn't sustain that pace for more than a few minutes before having to stop and walk. Keep up the hard work!

Nice! I'd recommend that you get the Nike+ ipod app. I've been using it since I started my workout Regime in April 20th 2012 and I've logged over 250 miles since that time. It's an extremely powerful tool with a great deal of online support - you can track your overall progress, and it shows your splits for each mile.
You not need it given the fact that you have a monitor, but I just wanted to offer a suggestion.
I can't believe that dude said that to you - that's somewhat irritating to hear about, but I think you're going to crush your goals and make people like him look foolish. Congrats, and keep it up.
Oh, I don't race competitively so I don't have bibs, but it's awesome that you keep them.
