My You-Create-'Em card (with photo)

Monday, December 17, 2012

I wanted to find ways to save money to add to our church's Christmas mission offering, so I decided to recycle fronts of cards from last year, place these on cardstock, and add greetings inside. I ran out, and since I had found some cards that were made to add text to (for oh-so cheap at our local thrift store), I decided to try my hand at that. It took a bit of time to create my thoughts and stretch the text just so, but I'm pleased with the results.

Do you have any special crafts you do this time of year? It's great to keep our hands busy, right?

(In case you can't make out the lower message, here it is: "Hope you experience many Christmas blessings, and that you will join us in taking time to quietly reflect on the meaning of Christmas: God took on flesh to show a weary, needy world His love, forgiveness and power. He's still doing the same today in hearts that will allow it!)

Very clever!! I give my cards to my sister to give to her church group that sends them to St Jude's Hospital for the children to do pretty much what you have done and then they sell them to help with the hospital's needs, and , or the treatment for the children

Very beautiful card and I love what you have as the message! I have been making my Christmas cards for several years since I am a scrapbooker/card maker. I am afraid they don't always end up saving me money, but I love doing them. I usually make anywhere between 25 and 50. Other crafts I do are making scrapbook pages for my daughter and daughter-in-law. I have also made scrapbooks for each of my grandsons. emoticon emoticon

What a wonderful idea, very creative. I have been trying to get knitting and crocheting done for my DD and family in Colorado. I love the idea of recycling the cards but not sure what to do. Looks like you did a great job!

I recycle cards also! A friend of mine has a sticker on the back of the ones she does that says "Here We Greet Again". I also make up new ones with my paper stash!

Beautiful. The cards, and the message! No wonder it took you a little extra time to get them completed. Such a special gift, and blessing! Amazing job!

I'm not crafty, but I wish I was.

I wish you exactly the same as you've wished for others. Many blessing to you always!
