How do you spell BINGE???

Monday, December 17, 2012

Well, hubby's stuffed chicken breasts that were planned for dinner last night went into the oven about 5 minutes before the electricity went out. Thankfully, the oven had been pre-heated and he'd left the iron grill in by mistake. So, dinner was over an hour late . . . and I was already starving. I was ready to raid the kitchen . . . but didn't.

When the chicken finally cooked (thank God for the grill!) I ate my portion of cold green beans out of the can and stuffed chicken breast which only filled up one small corner of my empty tummy.

Half an hour after dinner, I was still hungry and had a piece of bread and half a tablespoon of peanut butter thinking that would fill the gap. (Still well inside my nutrition range but didn't know it because I had no internet.)

I woke up several times hungry last night and drank cold water.

The high winds in last night's storm brought down a lot of branches (we live on 5 wooded acres) so this morning after breakfast, I spent almost an hour huffin & puffin, dragging limbs and debris and clearing our driveway and lawn area.

By 10:30 I'm starving again. So, I had a second breakfast (ham & eggs w/veggies & mushrooms). More water.

By 12:30, I've already had 8 glasses of water, chewed some gum, everything I can think of . . . Same thing. Starving again. So I had a tuna salad with a double helping of salad, and a 100 cal bag of popcorn.

I still want to do my scheduled core/ab workout routine.

I already have dinner planned out and I'm still within range. But I know I'm going to be famished before dinner at 6:30.

This doesn't happen very often, but I recognize that in the past . . . this spells B-I-N-G-E !!!!

HELP!!! What do you do when you can't eat enough to fill you up?

You got some excellent advice but the biggest
thing was you were so active that food didn't
register. Try the fresh fruit or even yogurt. You
need protein when you work out so much.

This happens to me, and I know I am not that hungry but it is like my hands have their own life, and usually I just binge, and try to eat something healthy.

low calorie food you can crunch on - apples, carrots, banana (although that isn't crunchy). Perhaps your body is telling you that it needs more because you are more active now. Could it be your ranges need to be adjusted? Are you measuring everything or just guessing on serving sizes? There are all kinds of factors here that could be affecting your hunger.

A friend of mine told me that if I do well all day but want to go crazy at night, it's because I am not eating enough durng the day. She also recommended making sure I eat enough fruits and veggoes and as the day progresses slowly ease up on carbs so my blood sugar stays level.

On food logs I keep, I also have a place where I write a number from 1-10 of how hungry I was, and I noticed a trend, on days that I didn't eat an apple, I was hungrier, so now I make sure I eat one.

I also keep a stask of raw carrots, sugar snap peas, and cucumbers in the fridge. If I evaluate my hunger and realize I am physically hungry, I will eat a lot of carrots or a peeled and sliced cucmber, that usually fills me up. I also drink a full 8 ounce glass of water because sometimes if we are slightly dehydrated, the body sends a signal to the brain to eat in order to get more fluids in.

    I hope that helps you.
