New Goal: Hawaii

Sunday, December 16, 2012

I had one of those moments yesterday. I realized I was planning on attending a conference in Hawaii in June and I want to be able to wear a bathing suit. Oh man! Okay, this means some serious goal setting. First, I want to be Healthy enough to enjoy the conference; that's a given. I need to have enough Energy to do the conference as well as the family time. Did I mention that I have a teenager who turns 18 on the first day of the conference and will have graduated from High School the week before? This is his trip as much as it is mine. So to do this, I need to:

1. lose 30 pounds between now and June. That's about 1 pound a week between now and then. It's going to be hard work but it seems doable to me.

2. learn to sleep better. I'm having lots of issues with my sleep. Some of it is HOT FLASHES, the scourge of ladies of a certain age. Some of it is this college application process. That at least will be over soon.

3. save money and airline points so that I can afford to bring the family with me - even if it means we fly on different airlines. By that time, all three of us will be adults - well at least pass for adults. As long as we arrive at the same place.

I think three goals is enough for now. I might think of others and I will post them but for now that's enough.

Next step - find something that I can divide into 30 little pieces and keep track of the weight loss.

30 lb in 6 months is doable just keep focused. That is the same I need to lose by June too which is my BD. My hot flashes are less when I drink soy beverages instead of milk and avoid coffee.

Great goals...on the hot flashes...doctor told me to take a baby aspirin every evening before bed..it lessens them..And you can lose a pound a week.I did last spring and was down 30 pounds from last December when I made it to July...good luck.

Great doable goals. A trip to Hawaii sounds wonderful.

One lady made paper chains for each pound lost and hung this on her wall.

Save a £1 for every pound of weight lost and treat yourself to something nice.

I watched this programme and it was advised to eat Kiki fruit before going to bed, it proved a success. What I do when I find it hard to sleep, is to count backwards from 300 - I drift off in no time:)

Wish you the all the best in achieving your goals for the New Year emoticon emoticon emoticon
