Poinsettia Day

Thursday, December 13, 2012

I love poinsettias. I was stationed on the Mexican border at Laredo while in the Air force and when the Poinsettia bloomed in hedges around the buildings, I fell in love with them and have surrounded myself with pictures, plants, artificial ones, pictures and this year was blessed even with Christmas china and glassware!

There is a legend about the poinsettia...several in fact..but most have a very poor child [some say a boy and some say a girl] who wept that they had no gift to take to the Christ Child and their tears fall on "weeds" and turn them into the glorious blossom we know as the poinsettia and the child takes the flower and gives as a gift to Christ.

Jesus has taken the weeds of my life and turned it into something that brings Glory to his Name and Kingdom...I am thankful!

I have decided to change my profile picture for the first time I think in all my spark days...I will use the poinsettia with open Bible as my profile for the Christmas season which lasts all year long in my heart and a part of my home each year.
